Many years ago, my dad fell in love with my mum

But Mamma was a like stubborn sow

She wouldn’t have a bar of my Pa

Eventually she gave in and decided to give herself to him

But their families came from different parts

There was a feud erupting over these two hearts

But it was too late I was in ma’s belly

So, they were wed quicker than setting jelly

Nine months later I came into this world

Not much later they we all flew out of that world

We came to a place they call the bush

We didn’t speak the language couldn’t read their books

My daddy got a job chopping down trees

While my mamma stayed home and went crazy

Then they had another kid he was my brother

That devil’s child would cause me all kind of bother

We moved out of the bush into the city

Close to the beach where the girls are so pretty

My daddy worked in the pinball parlours

Where I spent all my time and all his dollars

Playing pinball to forget about home

Where the screaming and shouting would shake my bones

And when they invented Space Invaders

Man, I knew then that the world was changing

But mamma couldn’t take it no she couldn’t understand

How Ace Frehley made me wanna be in a band

I accepted rock into my heart

I painted my face and hit my drums

I watched Countdown every time on TV

Just to see KISS Slade and AC/DC

But mamma would shout “Devil Worshiping Faggots!”

“They’ll all go to hell when they leave this planet”

“To see that you like this shit fills me with shame”

And then she switched the channel

And make us watch John Wayne

Well I didn’t care I knew what was right

I’d go to Rusty’s house and watch TV all night

We’d pretend to be on tv in our own rock band

Living our own rock dream

One Sunday afternoon Rusty’s ma

Dropped us off at the twin cinema

We had tickets to see Disney, but we took a wrong turn

And saw A Space Odyssey

The dawn of man and the Monolith

Had a most profound effect on my life

From that day on I made it my mission

To form a rock band and fulfil my vision

We will be the first ever band to play rock and roll in outer space
